Strong Result Gives Cathedral Confidence
School Age - Boys

Cathedral took a massive step forward in their High School club season in Indiana, beating Midwest rivals Westerville of Columbus, Ohio this past weekend.

The Indianapolis-based Cathedral team won in impressive fashion, 29-0. They started very strong, getting three unconverted tries to lead 15-0 after about 15 minutes.

After that both teams played excellent defense, until Cathedral ran in two converted tries in the second half.

“As a coach, you are always quick to point out the points you think you left out on the field, but when you look back on it, you're just happy that you beat a very good Westerville team on the day,” said one of Cathedral’s coaches, Scott Peterson. “We were able to get our reserves on the field for a good amount of time which is always good in preparation for tournament games later in the season. Our offense was clicking really well for us. We love to move the ball around the field and that's the kind of game that we preach. The kids have really taken a liking to it and enjoy the wide open game.”

Peterson said Cathedral has taken a lot of pride in their defense, and shutting out Westerville was evidence of that.

"We know there is still a lot of work to do,” he added. “[We made] some untimely mistakes on offense and some things that need to be tightened up on defense.  We've got to turn around and play two games this weekend including 1 against an always strong Penn side at Penn.  We are hoping to continue to elevate our game each week as we work our way to the postseason.”

Penn, meanwhile, is 2-0 in league play  but hasn't seen its A side play since beating Marian 36-19 March 28.
