Granite Bay Smokes Jesuit
School Age - Boys

The Granite Bay Grizzlies continued their string of strong results with a somewhat shocking 57-6 pasting of longtime NorCal kingpins Jesuit.

Granite Bay was led by No. 8 and captain John Kimble, Jr., who scored three tries, and scrumhalf Taylor Honnette, who claimed two.

“We were very successful in getting the ball out quickly,” said Head Coach John Kimble, Sr. “We were able to exploit gaps before their defense could set up. We took a lot of quick taps and scored at least three times that way.”

Kimble was just as thrilled with his team’s defense, which has allowed only three tries all season, and limited Jesuit to just two penalty kicks.

“Our defense has been strong all year so far,” he said.

Granite Bay improves to 4-0 in the Sacramento Valley Gold league, while Jesuit drops to 1-2. This is, however, what amounts to Jesuit's 2nd side. Their top group plays in NorCal's single-school competition.

Next up are the Islanders, who are currently 2-0 pending their result against Sierra Foothills. The Islanders already have beaten the Cougars (46-12 on Feb 17), a team that also claimed a victory over Jesuit.

So it seems that game, on March 2, could decide the best team in the Sacramento Valley.
