Americans overseas got one more weekend of games in before the Eagles assemble for the November tour. In France, Scott LaValla started at lock for the first time in a while for Stade Francais. His team lost 24-19 to Toulon, but LaValla was featured in a nice photo in Le Monde, the national newspaper. Also in the French Top 14, Taku Ngwenya scored a try for Biarritz in their 34-21 loss to Grenoble. In Pro D2 in France, Inaki Basauri started at flanker for Tarbes in their 53-13 dismantling of Beziers, where Seta Tuilevuka got a rare start at inside center. Roland Suniula did not play for Auch in their 9-3 loss to Colomiers. In England, Samua Manoa started at lock for Northampton in their 16-12 loss to Leicester. Chris Wyles had a strong game at fullback for Saracens Sunday in their 29-24 defeat of Wasps. Paul Emerick did not play for Wasps. Northampton dropped to 5th, and Saracens remains in second in the Premiership. Robbie Shaw played a full game for Richmond before his joining the Eagles, where he is expected to play a big role with Mike Petri forced to join the team late due to work. In Italy, Lou Stanfill had a massive game at No. 8 for Rugby Vicenza in Serie A action, as the Rangers beat Valpolicella 23-7. In university rugby, Cambridge faced Crawshay’s Welsh XV and won 24-21. Former Dartmouth All American Nate Brakeley made quite an impression with his physical defense.
