Tonga Shocks France, Canada Bumped
International - Rugby World Cup

Behind an amazing, gritty performance, Tonga defeated France 19-14 Saturday in Wellington at the Rugby World Cup.

The victory was a huge upset, made more amazing by the fact that Tonga missed twice as many tackles as the French, but somehow hung on.

Flyhalf Kurt Morath scored 14 points with his kicking. The victory put Tonga at 2-2 and past 1-2-1 Canada for third in Pool A. As a result, unless Canada can beat New Zealand, Tonga has secured an automatic bid to the 2015 World Cup.

France, despite the loss and finishing pool play 2-2, move on to the quarterfinals.
